Hi!

Our members are a fun(!) and a serious group of women who are passionate about our community. We are the local chapter of the 101 year old Zonta International organization. We started representing the San Francisco Bay Area in 1936, originally chartered in Berkeley.

 

Zonta International is a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide

through service and advocacy.

 

Zonta International has a seat at the United Nations with a voice to help direct the mission of the advancement of the status of women. We know that raising awareness for women is important here at home and to our international sisters around the globe.

 

Our members are executives and professionals from a diverse cross-section of businesses who come together to make meaningful contributions to the lives of women and girls. We are also friends, moms, daughters, dads, sons, laborers, survivors, wives, widows, and business owners who want to make a difference where we can. We strive to help provide a better future for women and girls where we live and to many, many other places where it is needed around the world.

We Build Bridges To Empower Women

Through Service And Advocacy 

​

Our work in the San Francisco Bay Area impacts real girls and women in very tangible ways. We work to provide scholarships and grants to extraordinary students achieving excellence in high school and college. We have community projects and fundraisers both big and small to bring awareness and advocacy for women and girls. A brief example of our service work include: mentoring girls in disadvantaged communities, teaching skill workshops to young women in the Girl Scouts and the YWCA, providing books to local grade schools, providing basic necessities like bras and toiletries to women in day time shelters, and providing funds to give girls the opportunity to attend STEM camp. Our dedication to service is very important and we are always looking for ways to offer women and girls more opportunities to excel and improve in their lives.

 

Our advocacy programs bring information to club members

and to the community about:​

• Trafficking and exploitation of women and girls 

• Advocacy and action to end child marriages here and abroad

• Ending violence against women

• Equal rights for women and girls

• ​Pursuing legislation for passage of Equal Rights Amendment

• Pursuing legislation to end child marriage

​

We volunteer and work hand in hand with our sister Zonta Clubs around the globe. We strive to provide funds for education, business training, micro business loans and essential supplies to make a better life for women and girls.

Right now during the COVID-19 safety precautions we are meeting virtually every first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm. Zooming to Zonta has just made us stronger and more determined to see us get our mission and objectives accomplished.
